The map sees roads, not people.
How the network protects the people on the road and the people who map it — and how this website handles your information.
[ 01 · On the network ]
Private before it leaves the car.
Blurring on the edge
Faces and licence plates are blurred automatically by computer vision, on every device model.
Pseudonymous contributors
Every contributor gets a random three-word username, and map coverage is never associated with it.
Minimal personal data
No passwords, phone numbers or home addresses are collected, and personal data is never sold.
Privacy zones
Collection pauses inside a contributor's personal privacy zones, which are never shared with Hivemapper servers. Network privacy zones are blocked for everyone.
Trip trimming
The first and last 500 m of every trip are removed — up to 1,000 m by choice. It cannot be disabled.
Redaction requests
Anyone can ask for personal data to be blurred or deleted, with a username, time window, location and type of data.
